Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Clinical diagnosis of GAD according to DSM-5; (2) Aged from 18 to 60 years; (3) The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA)>=14; (4) Patients being able to provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Intracranial infection, tumor or metal objects; any metals in the body including pacemakers, stents, catheters, electrodes, cochlear implants; (2) Serious and/or unstable medical illness (for example encephaledema, cardiac disease, hemorrhagic disease); (3) Pregnancy; (4) Individuals being judged too psychiatrically unstable to participate (for example schizophrenia, affective disorder, acute suicidality); (5) Any other contraindication for rTMS (such as history of epilepsy).
