Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Being scheduled for reconstruction of face and neck defects with expanded free circumflex scapular flap. (2) Preoperative vascular ultrasounds indicates normal flow rate of the circumflex scapular artery on the operative side (peak systolic flow velocity (PSFV) of >10cm/s in adults; and >6cm/s in children). (3) Signed informed consent; willingness to cooperate with postoperative follow-ups.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Affected flap perfusion of the donor site due to various factors such as previous surgery, trauma and infection. (2) Expanded flap becomes too thin or ulcerated during the expansion procedure, affecting the flap perfusion. (3) Uncontrolled infection. (4) Iodine and/or indocyanine allergy. (5) Cardiovascular or peripheral vascular diseases. (6) Psychiatric illnesses, intellectual disabilities, inability to cooperate. (7) Not suitable for microsurgery due to other comorbidities.
