Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Aged >=18 years. 2) Undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting. 3) Sign the informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Pre-operative history of atrial fibrillation. 2) Redo cardiac surgery. 3) New York Heart Association (NYHA) heart function classification III to IV. 4) Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) < 40%. 5) Sinus bradycardia (resting heart rate < 60 beats per minute). 6) Second or third degree atrioventricular block. 7) Taking class I or III antiarrhythmic agents. 8) Bronchial asthma or a history of asthma. 9) Symptomatic chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. 10) Pregnancy. 11) Allergy to esmolol or known intolerance.
