Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Suspected of having community-acquired encephalitis/meningitis; - Younger than 18 years old; - Samples come from the inpatient ward or emergency observation ward; - CSF samples were collected by lumbar puncture without centrifugation; - CSF residual sample, the sample size is greater than 250ul; - Complete clinical information; - Signed informed consent obtained.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Hospital acquired encephalitis/meningitis; - Patients who did not collect samples as required by the protocol; - Sample size less than 250ul; - Immunodeficiency, abnormal local nerve examination, cerebrospinal fluid shunt, hydrocephalus, brain tumor, neurosurgery, brain trauma, premature infants.
