Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: We included all children aged 1 to 13 years, with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis between October, 2018 and February, 2020 in our emergency department and the parents refused to have a standard surgical intervention. The diagnosis of acute appendicitis is based on acute abdominal pain and computed tomography (CT) (Fig 1a, b) and/or ultrasonography (US) (Fig 1c, d) finding of an enlarged appendix or obstruction of appendix with fecalith.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) children with appendix perforation, diffused peritonitis or periappendiceal abscess; (2) Abdominal radiograph showing intra-abdominal free air and other causes of acute abdomen such as urological and gynecological diseases; (3) Children with a contraindication for colonoscopy or an allergy to contrast media; (4) Family is reluctant to accept endoscopic treatment.
