Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged >=18 years; 2. Patients were admitted to ICU within 24 hours after surgery; 3. Hyperosmolar agents were required for the prevention or treatment of postoperative brain edema. Indications of hyperosmolar therapy included bulging of the brain during operation; postoperative intracranial pressure above 20 mmHg; brain edema indicated by CT scan.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Craniopharyngioma, pituitary tumor or other brain tumors, which can cause disturbance of water, electrolyte and acid-base, balance; 2. Herniation of brain; 3. Hemodynamic unstable: systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg or need for infusions of vasopressor; 4. Presence of oliguric renal failure; 5. Enrolled in another trial.
