60 Years to 95 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 60 years or older; 2. Diagnosis of dementia as defined by DSM-IV, and mild dementia with a Clinical Dementia Rating score of 1 ; 3. Ability to read, understand and complete questionnaires; 4. Willingness to provide subgingival plaque samples; 5. Presence of two or more remaining teeth ; 6. No use of antibiotics and probiotics in the last 3 months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Had experienced traumatic brain injury, intracerebral hemorrhage, stroke, or any other neurodegenerative diseases; 2. Were diagnosed with cancer; 3. Reported a history of smoking and alcohol drinking habits; 4. Had had oral surgery, dental procedures, or severe periodontal disease.
