Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) diagnosed with carcinoma of the thoracic oesophagus based on pretreatment biopsy samples; (2) aged = 70 years; (3) undergoing McKeown minimally invasive esophagectomy; (4) Patients informed consent and volunteered to this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) emergency or open surgery; (2) undergoing radiotherapy before surgery; (3) with severe complications which may cause patients to stop feeding such as anastomotic leakage; (4) merged with Parkinson's disease, cerebral infarction, and other serious organic diseases; (5) a documented history of schizophrenia or psychosis; (6) inability to perform language communication or text understanding.
