Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged between 18 and 25 years. 2. Participants scoring 16 or more points on the CES-D and 14 or more points on the BDI-II at two time points were considered potentially depressed participants. These participants were then evaluated face-to-face by a trained psychiatrist using a 24-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) to confirm their eligibility (HAMD 8 to 20).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Had a diagnosis of major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or other mental disorders according to the DSM-V; Had any suicidal tendencies posing immediate threat to the participants life; Received any form of interventions for depression within the past year.
