Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Meet Altmans clinical criteria for knee osteoarthritis; 2. Have radiographic evidence of knee osteoarthritis (Kellgren-Lawrence radiographic scale class 2-3); 3. Aged 18-60 years; 4. Symptoms consistent with torn meniscus (at least one of the following: clicking, catching, popping, giving way, pain with pivot or torque, pain that is episodic, pain that is acute and localized to one joint line); 5. Evidence on knee MRI of osteophytes or full-thickness cartilage defect; or plain radiographic evidence of osteophytes or joint space narrowing; 6. Evidence on knee MRI of a meniscal tear that extends to the surface of the meniscus; 7. Aable to give informed consent to participate in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Steroid injections or physical therapy treatment for their knee in the past 12 months; 2. Current or past history of rheumatoid arthritis or similar rheumatic condition; 3. Current or past history of gout or pseudogout of the knee; 4. Active infection in the knee within the past 12 months; 5. Typically more limiting or painful than their knee osteoarthritis during activities included sitting, standing, walking, or stair climbing; 6. History of allergy or adverse effect to corticosteroids; 7. Pregnant or intending to become pregnant; 8. Contraindication to receiving a corticosteroid injections (history of allergic or adverse reaction to steroids or steroid injection, history of multiple corticosteroid injections in that area even if not within last year, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, etc.); 9. Previous received TKA or UKA surgery; 10. Other reasons for exclusion (Severe organ failure, specifically patients with cardiovascular diseases, classified as New York Heart Association class III or IV, chronic kidney disease classified as stage >= 3, liver disease with a Model of End-stage Liver Disease score of >= 20, and patients with severe mental illness, lack of permanent home address, drug abuse, alcohol abuse).
