Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Have been diagnosed with T2DM (over the age of 18 years old), male or female; 2. The HbA1c level of the past two months was > 7.5% prior to the study; 3. An informed consent signed by the patient or a legal guardian.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy; 2. End-stage renal failure (hemodialysis or glomerular filtration rate<10mL/min); 3. Dementia or unstable psychiatric conditions; 4. Treatment for cancer; 5. Have acute or chronic infection that will affect glucose control for 1st month assessment; 6. Have congestive heart failure which requires medicine treatment; 7. Have a history of acute or chronic pancreatitis.
