Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The trial enrolled patients who received invasive ventilation shortly before or after admission to the ICU and who were expected not to be extubated within 24 hours of randomization.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: A. Existence of ARDS (strictly in accordance with Berlin's definition of ARDS); B. Less than 18 years old; C. Pregnancy; D. Increased and uncontrollable intracranial pressure; E. Hemodynamic instability or malignant arrhythmia; F. Abdominal high pressure; G. Unstable cervical spinal cord injury.
