Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with AECOPD and arterial blood gas pH 50 mmHg were diagnosed according to the Chinese guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (2013). 2. Aged >= 18 years; 3. Those who can obtain informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Immediate tracheal intubation is needed: respiratory rate > 40 times / min, severe hypoxia (oxygenation index under high concentration oxygen inhalation < 150), severe respiratory acidosis pH < 7.2, consciousness disorder (Glasgow score < 8), etc; 2. There are NIV taboos: mouth and face trauma, poor sputum discharge capacity, hemodynamic instability, etc; 3. Palliative treatment is being carried out for those with poor short-term prognosis and high risk of death within 7 days; 4. Other organ failure; 5. Tracheotomy; 6. Patients with pneumothorax, hemoptysis and severe pneumonia.
