48 Years to 83 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Men and women 18 years of age or older; 2. scheduled for primary, single-side THA surgery; 3. Be able to read and understand Chinese; 4. willing to participate in a 6-months exercise intervention and provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. an unstable medical condition due to fracture, malignancy, infection, or failure of THA; 2. inability to provide informed consent due to mental disease, dementia or cognitive impairment which prevented completion of self-report surveys ; 3. co-existing conditions that would negate functional improvement with surgery and exercise (eg: severe Parkinson disease, or hemiparesis); 4. simultaneous bi-lateral THA; 5. surgery for neoplastic disease or an emergently scheduled surgery, and unavailable to complete the study procedures; 6. planning another THA or total knee replacement surgery within 6 months.
