ONS group:patients received dietary advice and oral intake of Nutren Optimum (Nestle Health Science, Switzerland) at a dosage of 500 mL daily for 3 months after discharge as a supplement to regular me

Control group:patients received dietary advice alone, which was identical to those for ONS group

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients were enrolled if they discharged after surgery for colorectal cancer and had nutritional risk score at 3; 2. greater based on the nutritional risk screening 2002 (NRS-2002) tool.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants unable to take food orally, already on nutritional support therapy, pregnant, or under age of 18 years.
