Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children scheduled for palate repair, aged from 6 months to 3 years, American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I or II, were eligible for the present study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) children with diseases of respiratory, cardiovascular, hepatic or renal system; (2) allergy to ropivacaine or lidocaine; (3) difficult airway requiring postoperative ventilator support; (4) coagulation disorders.
