4:1:Insulin 10iu and potassium chloride 1g in 400 mL of 10% glucose

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Elective lumbar surgery and partial hepatectomy in the second Xiangya Hospital requiring general anesthesia; 2. Aged 18 to 65 years; 3. Written informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients receiving medications known to affect glucose or potassium homeostasis; 2. Patients with previously diagnosed blood glucose > 180mg/dl(10mmol/L) or 5.5mmol/L or <3.0mmol/L; 3. Patients with previously diagnosed diabetes; 4. Patients with previously diagnosed renal insufficiency or major heart disease; 5. Patients with syndromes associated with any derangements in the outcome measures; 6. Patients with a long history of high dose of steroids; 7. Pregnant women.
