Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Patients aged 65 or older, including outpatients, emergency patients, and inpatients, without restrictions on gender; (2) patients with confirmed lumbar fractures or hip fractures based on clinical symptoms and examination characteristics; (3) patients with indications for surgery and normal gastrointestinal function, without contraindications to surgery; (4) patients who accept and sign the informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients with any contraindications to surgery; (2) patients with abnormal walking before this onset due to the history of illnesses or traumas; (3) patients with impaired nutritional absorption function due to the history of gastrointestinal diseases, surgery, etc. which could obstruct the normal absorption of food; (4) Patients with malignant tumors, severe liver or renal insufficiency, hematopoietic dysfunction, bleeding tendency, bleeding disorders, and other potentially fatal diseases; (5) Patients unable to conduct or accomplish the research project due to mental or neurological diseases or dying life; (6) Patients intolerant to oral consumption of protein.
