Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. The mother is admitted and her infant is born at the participating departments of Gynaecology and Obstetrics; 2. The newborn infant is admitted at the participating neonatal department; 3. Gestational age at delivery <= 34 weeks.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Major congenital abnormalities, birth defects,severe metabolic disease, gastrointestinal malformationor. 2. Twins. 3. Newborns die within 24 hours of birth, but the cause of death is unrelated to intrauterine infection. 4. Neonatal hospital stay less than 7 days.
