Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I and II, who had nonlaboring, normotensive parturients with term singleton pregnancy with baseline systolic BP within the range 90 to 140 mmHg scheduled for elective caesarean section
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status of 3 or higher, preexisting or pregnancy-induced hypertension, known fetal abnormality or intra-uterine growth restriction, known cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease, thrombocytopenia, coagulopathy, any medical contraindication to combined spinal–epidural anesthesia, known allergy to phenylephrine or norepinephrine or Metaraminol, weight less than 50 kg or greater than 100 kg, height less than 140 cm or greater than 180 cm, inability or refusal to give informed consent, and age less than 18 yr.Women were excluded from subsequent analysis if combined spinal–epidural (CSE) anaesthesia not established, administration of epidural drugs was required during the period until delivery of the fetus, or severe shivering made non-invasive blood pressure monitoring unreliable.
