Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients presenting with an open fractures of limbs combined with soft tissue defects without major arterial damaged in the limb and each patient had only two external fixation screws interfering with the seal of negative pressure wound therapy were considered for inclusion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included mental conditions that could interfere with the ability to provide informed consent or to fulfill the study requirements and medical contraindications to surgery.
