Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who were scheduled for elective laparoscopic gynecology surgery under general anesthesia between January 2017 and January 2019 at Huzhou Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital were included in the present study. Patients were eligible for participation if they conformed to the following criteria: American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-III; aged >=18 years; body mass index (BMI) <30 kg/m2;

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals who refused or were unable to provide informed consent, or were participating in another interventional study; severe cardiac disease defined as New York Heart Association grade III or IV, acute coronary syndrome or persistent ventricular tachyarrhythmias; any previous lung surgery or history of pulmonary disease; use of positive pressure ventilation prior to surgery [e.g. continuous positive airway pressure for sleep obstructive apnea syndrome (CPAP)]; or the requirement for the patient to be transferred to the ICU after surgery.
