Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria of the experimental group were as follows: (1) Aged 20 to 79 years old; (2) prediabetic group: in accordance with the diagnostic criteria of the World Health Organization: the level of fasting blood glucose (glucose) was 110 to 125 mg/dL (6.1 mmol/L to 6.9 mmol/L). The 2-hour blood glucose level after intake of standardized 75 g glucose 140 mg / dL (7.8 mmol/L),). The glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) was 5.7+/-6.4%. Diabetic group: in accordance with the diagnostic criteria of the World Health Organization, fasting blood glucose higher than 125 mg/dL (6.9mmol/L) or blood glucose was higher than 199 mg/dL (11.0 mmol/L) after oral administration of 75 g glucose for 2 hours. The control group was age-and sex-matched healthy volunteers with no history of ear diseases.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) there were other definite causes of inner ear injury: noise damage, history of ototoxic drug use, Meniere's disease, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and vestibular neuritis; (2) patients with middle ear disease; (3) there was no serious systemic disease.
