Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The diagnosis of schizophrenia were deterined by the consensus between two experienced psychiatrists using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID)–Patient Version. And healthy controls undergo Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Non-Patient Edition to exclude the lifetime absence of psychosis. The inclusion criteria for schizophrenia are: 1. Age between 16 and 45 years; 2. Right handed; 3. Above primary school level of education; 4. The time from initial onset to treatment between 1 month to 2 year; 5. Free from antipsychotics and mood stabilizer; 6. Volunteer to take part in this project and sign the informed consent; The inclusion criteria for healthy controls are: 1. Risidents in the local place as patients live; 2. Age, gender, education year and social status matched healthy controls; 3. No history of psychosis in the first-degree relatives.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Contraindication of MRI examination 2. Existence of a neurological disorder; 3. Alcohol or drug abuse; 4. Pregnancy; 5. Any physical illness such as a brain tumor, hepatitis, or epilepsy as assessed according to clinical evaluations and medical records.
