Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria included individuals who had medial compartmental knee OA, were older than 40 years of age and younger than 80 years of age, had no significant lateral joint space narrowing on the weight-bearing plain radiograph, had intact anterior cruciate ligaments, had a correctable varus abnormality and a fixed-flexion-deformity of less than 5 degree, and had a knee range of motion greater than 90 degree.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. With lateral compartmental knee osteoarthritis; 2. a lateral collateral ligament with a laxity grade higher than 2; 3. a cruciate ligament tear; 4. a history of knee trauma or septic; 5. rheumatoid or gouty arthritis.
