Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The diagnosis of PCOS was accorded with the 2003 Rotterdam diagnostic criteria. All enrolled patients must abide to at least two items in the following criteria: 1. infrequent ovulation and/or anovulation; 2. with clinical features of hyperandrogenism or hyperandrogenemia; 3. ultrasonic testing within 3 - 5 days after the withdrawal of menstrual cycle and progesterone displayed that the number of small follicles in unilateral or bilateral ovary with a diameter of 2 – 9 mm was in fact more than 12 mm. Meanwhile, normal ovarian tissues were gathered from 28 healthy women in childbearing age (age < 35 years) with regular menstrual cycle and no diagnosis of PCOS. They underwent gynecological operation in follicular phase and this histopathologically confirmed no obvious, abnormal morphology.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who had been administered with any hormone such as contraceptives, antiandrogens, and insulin sensitizers, that are more prone to interfering with secretions and metabolism of sex hormones.
