Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosis for type 2 diabetes (WHO 1999 diagnostic criteria); 2. All patients received metformin for at least 6 months(1000-1500mg/day); 3. None of the patients were receiving insulin therapy; 4. Aged 18-80 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism; 2. renal failure; 3. chronic hepatic diseases; 4. malignant diseases (such as cancer); 5. autoimmune diseases; 6. pregnancy and lactation.
