Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Subjects are eligible to include if they are: (1) Male or female aged 18–60 years; (2) Fulfilling the criteria for the diagnosis of opioid dependence on the basis of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition 20; (3) Received MMT for more than 30 days; (4) Not received any kind of acupuncture therapy during the previous 3 months; (5) Able to sign informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Subjects will be excluded if they having one or more of the following criteria: (1) Having serious heart, liver, lung, or kidney diseases; (2) Having venereal diseases or AIDS; (3) Presence of severe digestive disease and athrepsia; (4) Suffering from major psychosis; (5) Receiving other treatment that may affect the efficacy evaluation of the present intervention; (6) Having an infection, inflammation, scar or injury close to the site of the selected acupoints; (7) Having been pregnant or planning pregnancy.
