Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Patients aged >=18 years; (2) with a contrast-enhanced CT angiography confirmed diagnosis of mesenteric venous thrombosis as well as acute mesenteric ischemia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients with isolated portal vein or splenic vein thrombosis without involvement of the superior mesenteric vein; (2) in order to analyze the predictors for bowel infarction of acute SMVT at the time of presentation, incidentally discovered cases without symptoms were considered chronic SMVT and were excluded; (3) acute SMVT without abdominal symptoms and bowel injury on CT images were also excluded because it was just venous thrombosis, with no evidence of AMI.
