40 Years to 85 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 48 to 85 years with known chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). 2. Patients with hypercapnia respiratory failure treated with invasive mechanical ventilation due to bronchial-pulmonary infection. 3. Intubated for at least 48 h. 4. Meeting Pulmonary infection control window (PIC window). 5. Self-care for the past year. 6. Obtaining informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Severe organ dysfunction. 2. Patients with chronic neuromuscular disease. 3. Tracheotomy. 4. Upper airway obstruction 5. Facial injury or or oral, esophageal and gastric surgery within one month 6. Patients with NPPV at home 7. Weak cough ability with copious secretions 8. Terminal tumor. 9. Patients with do-not-reintubate order.
