Patients with Prehypertension or Stage-1 Hypertension

Interventions

N/A:Conducting a low sodium-feeding intervention with 3 grams of salt per day (51.3 mmol sodium/day) for 10 days.
N/A:Conducting a high sodium-feeding intervention with 18 grams of salt per day (307.8 mmol sodium/day) for 10 days

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Proband Eligibility Criteria: 1. Aged 18–60 years; 2. Urinary albumin test <= 50 mg/L by dipstick measurement; 3. Negative blood glucose test (fasting blood glucose <7.0mmol/L and non-fasting <11.1mmol/L) by glucose monitor; 4. Family as a unit is preferred to be enrolled; 5. Willingness to participate or sign informed consent form. Siblings/Offspring/Parents Eligibility Criteria: 1. Aged 18–60 years; 2. Systolic blood pressure <160 mm Hg and/ or diastolic blood pressure < 100 mm Hg; 3. Urinary albumin test <= 50 mg/L by dipstick measurement Negative blood glucose test (fasting blood glucose< 7.0mmol/L and non-fasting < 11.1mmol/L) by glucose monitor 4. Live in the same village with proband 5. Willing to participate in the intervention and able to provide informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Proband Exclusion Criteria: 1. Secondary hypertension; 2. Current or recent (less than one month) use of antibiotics medications; 3. Current or recent (less than one month) use of antihypertensive medications or medications that affect blood pressure; 4. History of clinical cardiovascular disease, including myocardial infarction, heart failure, stroke, peripheral arterial disease; 5. Current use of insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents; 6. Peptic ulcer disease requiring treatment during the previous two years; 7. Liver disease requiring treatment during the previous two years; 8. Currently pregnant women; 9. Heavy alcohol drinkers (more than 14 drinks per week); 10. Currently adhering to a low sodium diet. Sibling/Offspring/Parents Exclusion Criteria: 1. Secondary hypertension; 2.
