Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients scheduled for liver transplantation, aged 18 to 65 years, ASA grade II-III, and their family member signed informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with hepatic encephalopathy (including period of prodromal and pre-coma) before surgery; those with liver failure;those with neuropsychiatric diseases; those taking psychotropic substances; patients with preoperative mini mental state examination (MMSE) scale score <24 points; those with vision or hearing impairment and patients having difficulty communicating and accomplishing the test; those with a history of drug abuse; patients with slow arrhythmia such as atrioventricular block (above II),sick sinus syndrome (including implantation of a pacemaker); patients with contraindications to magnetic resonance scans such as implants.
