Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. aged >=18 years older; 2. the patients had a history of cardiovascular diseases and/or heart failure; 3. diagnosed as acute decompensated HF (ICD-10: I50.1): (1) at least one of the following signs: orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, dyspnea at rest; (2) the symptom of pulmonary edema: lung moist rales with or without wheezing, P2 hyperactivity, S3 and/or S4 galloping; (3) chest x-rays showed pulmonary edema or NT-proBNP >=300 pg/mL; (4) patients in intensive care unit who need mechanical ventilation in the mode of volume assist–control mode; (5) patients who received hemodynamic monitoring by a PiCCO2 device; (6) received diuretics and digitalis before rhBNP intravenous infusion pump; (7) complete data of venous return curve before and after rhBNP intravenous infusion pump.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. patient with hypovolemic, cardiogenic, or vasodilatory shock and systolic blood pressure less than 90 mm Hg; 2. heart failure with arrhythmias; 3. patients with valvular heart disease; 4. Pregnant or breast-feeding patients; 5. Hepatorenal insufficiency (AST>=80U/L, ALT>=80U/L, Cr>=127umol/L); 6. incomplete data.
