Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis of all patients was confirmed based on diagnostic criteria of the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3 beta). Patients were not receiving prevention therapy or were medication-free for at least 24 hours when recruited. The control group matched their age, gender and the number of years under an educational program.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded when they had combination of different types of headache, or had alterations in the neuroradiological (MRI), neurophysiological (EEG) or blood chemistry test findings. Participants who were illiterate or suffering from hearing disorders, or communication diseases were not able to cooperate sufficiently to complete the tests, and were therefore excluded. We also excluded those who had history of alcoholism or medications that could affect cognitive function.
