Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Preterm infants with Gestational age between 25+0 weeks to 33+6 weeks and birth weight <1500g; 2. Infants met the criteria of intubation, and requiring invasive MV of any mode on admission; 3. Only the first extubation from invasive ventilation was studied in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Infants with major life-threatening congenital malformations; 2. Infants died within 24h after admission; 3. Infants with abnormal upper airway structure (Pierre-Robin's syndrome, congenital laryngomalacia, choanal atresia, severe nose injury, etc.); 4. Infants with surgical diseases requiring surgery prior to extubation [congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH), congenital tracheal esophageal fistula(TEF), gastrointestinal malformations, and complex congenital heart disease (CHD), except for PDA ligation and surgical NEC); 5. Infants had stage IV intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) before extubation; 6. Infants with congenital lung diseases or lung dysplasia (such as congenital surfactant formation defects); 7. Infants who were transfer or discharge unexpectedly.
