Mycoplasma genitalium infection

Interventions

Group A:Extended azithromycin regimen: 1000 mg orally on the first day and 500 mg orally on the following 2 days.
Group B :Moxifloxacin regimen: 400 mg orally once a day for 7 days

Age
20 Years to 49 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. MSM; 2. Positive test for mycoplasma genitalium using PCR performed on specimens of urethral or/and rectal swabs; 3. Aged between 20 and 49 years; 4. Adequate comprehension skills to give informed consent; 5. Able to attend 3 weeks post-completion therapy follow-up visits and provide urethral and rectal swabs; 6. Commitment to have not sexual behaviors for the next 4 weeks after initiating treatment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Self-report of antibiotic use in the last 4 weeks; 2. Unwillingness to participate in the study or provide informed consent; 3. Unwillingness to attend follow-up visits; 4. Known allergy to macrolides and/or tetracyclines; 5. Self-reported cardiovascular conditions and concomitant use of QT-prolonging drugs.
