Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 18-50 years; 2. Male or female; 3. Obese or overweight [body mass index (BMI) between 24.0 and 32 kg/m2); 4. With a strong willingness to lose weight, willing to participate in this study and sign the informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnant women; 2. Subjects with severe cardiopulmonary disease that cannot tolerate resistance training (cardiac function of grade III/IV); 3. Subjects with diabetes, hypertension, recent acute infectious diseases and cancer; 4. Subjects with excessive drinking or have drunk heavily more than twice a week in the last month; 5. Subjects with kidney disease or renal insufficiency [eGFR<90 mL/ (min 1.73 m2); 6. Subjects quitted smoking in the past 6 months or have a recent plan to quit smoking; 7. Subjects with hypothyroidism, Cushing syndrome, and polycystic ovary syndrome; 8. Subjects with mental disorders such as severe depression; 9. Subjects that are unable to cooperate or to complete the study due to other reasons; 10. Subjects who have participated in other clinical studies in the past 3 months.
