45 Years to 75 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 50 to 65 years male and female; 2. In the last 30 days, serum lipid level in the morning was consistent with the diagnostic criteria of hypercholesterolemia at least twice, that is total serum cholesterol concentration = 5.18 mmol/L and (or) serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentration = 3.37 mmol/L; 3. Without contraindications to probucol; 4. The provision of informed consent for study participation.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Recent ischemic stroke patients; 2. Carotid artery unstable plaque or plaque with stenosis of more than 50; 3. Pregnant or lactating women; 4. Secondary hyperlipidemia; 5. Taking lipid-lowering drugs or other drugs which could affect both lipid and plasma biomarkers in last 14 days; 6. Heavy drinking, active hepatitis and patients with unexplained elevated aminotransferase; 7. Severe hepatorenal insufficiency; 8. Recent myocardial infarction; severe bradycardia; cardiogenic syncope or unexplained syncope; prolonged Q-T interval; taking drugs to prolong Q-T interval; hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia.
