Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The diagnosis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection was based on positive results of serologic test (MP-total antibody test =1:160 and positive IgM). Severe MPP was diagnosed when any one of the follow conditions were met on the basis of MPP conformed: (1) Obvious tachypnea or tachycardia: respiratory rate =60 breaths/min at age <2 months old or =50 breaths/min at age 2-12 months old or =40 breaths/min at age 1-5 years old or =30 breaths/min at age=5 years old (excluding the reasons of fever and cry), and/or dyspnea (nasal alar breathing, groan, three-concave sign) and cyanosis. (2) Hypoxemia: under the condition of induction air, pulse blood oxygen saturation(SaO2)=0.92; (3) Patients display continuing axilla-temperature=38.5 degree C or chest radiological progression after macrolide therapy for 7 days or longer; (4) Many lobar and segmental bronchi invaded or extent of infiltration=2/3 of one lung on chest X-ray examination; (5) Patients with pulmonary complications such as pleural effusion, atelectasis, pulmonary necrosis or abscess of lung; (6) Patients with severe other systems damage such as central nervous system infections, heart failure, myocarditis, obvious electrolytes/acid-base disturbance.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with abnormal development of airway, congenital diseases, inherited metabolic and autoimmune diseases, malnutrition, or those with incomplete clinical data.
