Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inpatients that underwent internal fixation of fractures at the orthopedics department of the Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated Sixth People's Hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: pre-existing diagnosis of chronic pain, concomitant injuries that involved other than the musculoskeletal system, age younger than 18 years, prolonged hospitalization after surgery (more than three days), declining study participation, loss to follow-up within six months of surgery.
