Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The diagnosis of IBD was based on standard clinical, endoscopic, and histological criteria. The patients did not receive any steroid treatments at least one month before. The healthy control volunteers had no gastrointestinal discomfort and had normal colonic mucosa under colonoscopy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with any other inflammation, metabolic disease and pregnancy were excluded from the study.
