Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients are symptomatic carotid stenosis, the carotid is severe stenosis (=70% according to the ECST study [16] ) and contralateral stenosis is less than 50%, asymptomatic of coronary atherscrosis disease (CAD) and stenosis of coronary arterial less than 70%, diameter of CCA is greater than 30% of the diameter of ICA or 2 millimeters, life expectancy is greater than two years and age less than 80 years. Vascular doctors performed more than 200 cases of CAS and operation experience at least five years and no other surgical contraindications.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Diameter of CCA is greater than 40% of the diameter of ICA, symptomatic of CAD and asymptomatic coronary arterial stenosis was more than 70%, vital organs dysfunction or advanced cancer, uncontrolled hypertension and systolic pressure was more than 160mmHg under medical therapy, any hemorrhagic disease within six months, bilateral carotid stenosis or unilateral carotid occlusion, intracranial artery stenosis more than 70%, fasting blood glucose was more than 11mmol/L and patients refuse.
