Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) idiopathic ERM clearly visible through biomicroscopy; (2) clear vitreous; (3) best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) >0.2; (4) metamorphopsia; (5) absent-to-moderate cataract.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Cornea and lens of the study eye are severely turbid, and the fundus cannot be seen clearly; 2) The study eye with retinal vasculopathy, uveitis, history of ocular trauma, retinal tears and other eye diseases; 3) The study eye has undergone vitreoretinal surgery; 4) The patient has surgical contraindications and with high risk of undertaking surgery.
