End-stage renal disease on maintenance hemodialysis with hypertension

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) Aged 18 to 75 years; 2) chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 5; 3) on maintenance HD and had adequate HD in the last 8 weeks (Kt/V evaluation), with the lowest tolerated post-dialysis weight (dry weight) achieved; 4) blood calcium and blood phosphorus relatively stable; with blood phosphorus =2.0 mmol/L; 5) hemoglobin >90 g/L; 6) administration of at least two kinds of antihypertensive drugs (such as ACEI, angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB), calcium antagonists, ß-receptor blockers, a-receptor blockers, diuretics, etc.) for more than 2 weeks; 7) pre-dialytic systolic blood pressure (SBP) =140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) =90 mmHg; 8) the attending physician believed that treatment with arotinolol hydrochloride was medically suitable for the patient; 9) signed the informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) history of unstable angina, myocardial infarction, or symptomatic or persistent arrhythmia; 2) cardiac surgery or angioplasty in the latest 2 months; 3) patient who took class I antiarrhythmic drugs (quinidine, procaine amide, phenytoin sodium, propafenone, methyline); 4) heart rate (HR) 2 times the upper limit of normal; 10) allergy to arotinolol hydrochloride; 11) systemic treatment with glucocorticoids and receptor blocker therapy in the latest 8 weeks; 12) recent kidney transplantation; 13) right heart failure caused by pulmonary hypertension; 14) pregnant or lactating; 15) malignant tumor; 16) participated in another clinical trial within 3 months or undergoing treatment under another clinical trial; 17) patient who was believed not suitable to participate in the trial by the principal investigator.
