Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) moderate to severe,generalized periodontitis; (2) Remaining more than 20 teeth; (3) All individuals will be between 18 and 65 years of age; (4) more dental calculus and apparent gingival inflammtion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. high risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, and patients who had taken systemic antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs or immunosuppressive drugs within 3 months of enrollment; 2. Subjects, who had received periodontal treatment within the previous 6 months; 3. With an incompatible dentition such as orthodontic bands, partial dentures or teeth unsuitable for extensive ultrasonic scaling; 4. Pregnancy or lactation; 5. Smokers.
