Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. radical resection of colorectal or gastric cancers; 2. aged over 65 years old; 3. surgical time longer than 2 hours; 4. the American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA) classification of II or III.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. history of severe cardiovascular diseases; 2. history of severe liver and kidney diseases; 3. evidence of arrhythmia on EKG; 4. use of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) during mechanical ventilation; 5. conditions with relative contraindication for arterial catheterization(e.g. peripheral vascular disease).
