Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. patients are scheduled for a upper-abdominal surgery or thoracic surgery and are able to aceive a paravertebral block; 2. Aged at least 18 years; 3. with ASA status I or II; 4. Sign the informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Regional nerve block contraindication; 2. patients with diabetes,hematological system disorders; 3. history of chronic pain, long time of taking opioids,NSAIDS or hormones; 4. allergic to local anesthetic; 5. Pregnant and lactating women; 6. patients with mental disease who is unable to tell the block plane.
