Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: For NC subjects, they had global Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) scores of 0 and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores between 24 and 30. NC subjects were required not to have experienced memory loss. For patients diagnosed with aMCI, fulfilling the Petersen 2004 criteria for aMCI, they had global CDR scores of 0.5 and MMSE scores between 24 and 30. And they had the following features: 1) subjective memory complaints; 2) episodic impairment on standard neuropsychological tests (i.e. Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test, recall; story recall); 3) preservation of basic activities in daily life; 4) absence of significant impairment in more than 2 cognitive domains; 5) absence of dementia according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) 2013[27]; 6) absence of anxiety disorders or mood disorders.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Presence of other neurological, cerebrovascular (such as transient ischemic attack, stroke or intracranial hemorrhage), psychiatric (such as depression, schizophrenia or paranoid psychosis), medical or metabolic disorders that might interfere with the study. Participants who had Hachinski Ischemia scores greater than 4, obesity (BMI=25), and history of alcoholism or drug abuse were also excluded.
