Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria were patients aged between 18 and 70 years, ASA physical status I or II and planned for general anaesthesia using a flexible reinforced laryngeal mask airway for oral and maxillofacial surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for the study were as follows: the presence of pharyngolaryngeal or mediastinal masses, an interincisor distance below 2 cm, obesity (body mass index>35 kg.m-2), reduced lung compliance, known or predicted difficult airway, high risk for pulmonary aspiration and patient's refusal to be intubated with the proposed technique
