Interventions

single-dose group:Patients in the single-dose group received a “single-dose oral carbohydrate” regimen: 500 mL of oral 10% glucose solution 2-3 h before surgery
dual-dose group:patients in the dual-dose group received 'dual-dose oral carbohydrates' regimen: 1000ml of 10% oral glucose solution 10 hours before surgery and 500 mL of oral 10% glucose solution 2-3

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) patients diagnosed with gastric cancer by gastroscopy biopsy and who are scheduled for gastrectomy; (2) aged 18-80 years old; (3) If the patient has undergone radiotherapy or chemotherapy before surgery, the time between the last radiotherapy or chemotherapy and the surgery is >= 1 month; (4) non-emergency surgery; (5) No gastric emptying disorder factors; (6) not taking drugs that affect metabolism, blood sugar or insulin levels and gastric emptying; (7) informed consent of patients and their families.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) combined with severe brain, heart, lung, liver and kidney diseases; (2) patients with diabetes; (3) distant metastasis, recurrent tumors and multiple primary cancers; (4) blood transfusion within 2 weeks before surgery, nutritional support treatment; (5) morbid obesity [body mass index (BMI) > 40]; (6) patients with metabolic syndrome.
